Secondary Level (IX and X)
CBSE has introduced the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation pattern at class IX and class X levels. There is no Board exam at the end of Class X. This system of evaluation is intended to provide a holistic profile of the student through evaluation of both scholastic and co-scholastic areas spread over 2 terms each during 2 academic years. The academic session comprises of:
- The Formative Assessment (FA) is used as a tool by the teacher to continuously monitor student progress in a non –threatening and supportive environment. It is diagnostic and remedial and allows for active involvement of students in their own learning through quizzes, conversations, oral, visual, or written testing, projects, practical, assignments, etc.
- The Summative Assignment (SA) is a terminal pen and paper test comprising of a large chunk of multiple-choice questions besides short and long answer questions. Scholastic Assessment is inclusive of Work experience, Art Education, Health, and Physical Education.
- Co-scholastic Assessment comprises of observation over a year of life skills, attitudes, and values, literary and creative skills of students. They provide adequate opportunities to the learners for all-around development. Assessment is done on a 9 point grading pattern and no numerical are projected in the report cards.
Senior Secondary Level (XI and XII)
- Class XI follows a pattern of regular Unit Tests followed by 2 Terminal exams. Language comprises Listening and Speaking tests, while other subjects comprise practical and theory, as per the CBSE guidelines.
- Class XII follows the same pattern except that it has two Pre Board exams instead of the Second term exam, followed by the Board in March
